Skill Divisions
The Match Point Open will report scores to DUPR for all divisions in this event.
Each doubles division, besides Open, will have two DUPR caps:
1) Team Average Cap: The combined DUPR ratings of both partners, divided by two, must be below the “Team Avg” specified for that division. For instance, if a 3.0 bracket requires a team average under 3.5, a 3.2 + 3.6 = 6.8 total, divided by two, gives an average of 3.4—qualifying for the 3.0 bracket.
2) Individual Player Cap: Each player’s DUPR rating must remain under the “No Player Over” limit listed for the division. In the above example, if one partner’s DUPR is 3.8, it exceeds the 3.75 cap for the 3.0 division, so that team would have to register for 3.5 instead.
Each player over age 50 will receive a 0.25 DUPR reduction applied to their team average, after the average is calculated.
Open divisions have no DUPR cap and are intended for the highest-level competitors. Men’s Singles Challenger division has a hard DUPR cap of below 4.25, while the Open division has no cap.
Not Rated players: If your partner in a doubles event has an NR DUPR rating (no DUPR history), Match Point Open will use the rated partner's DUPR rating as the average. If both players have no DUPR, please select "Contact Tournament" and send a message with you and your partner’s information so the tournament director can help determine your division.
DUPR Review
The Match Point Open tournament director will review DUPR scores and win/loss history. Our team conducts DUPR reviews periodically and again at registration close. We do NOT lock your DUPR rating upon sign-up. We reserve the right to move players between skill brackets based on this data.
We require players to compete with integrity in the correct skill division; sandbagging is strictly prohibited. However, players may choose to compete at a higher skill level if they wish. The tournament director reserves the right to assign or reassign any player to a minimum skill division based on their prior performance history.
Draw Notice
Your draw may change up until the player meeting 30 minutes before the division starts. DUPR compliance reviews, late registrations, and last-minute cancellations can all cause changes in the initial draw for your event.
Late Participants
If a player shows up more than 15 minutes late to their division start, their match may be logged as a forfeit. We cannot delay division starts for a single player, so you may be removed from your pool entirely if you are late.
Minimum Registrations
If a division doesn't meet the minimum registration requirement, it may be canceled without affecting the payouts for other divisions.
Registrations (including service fee) are refunded completely if MPO cancels an event.
Paddle Legality
All players must use paddles that are currently approved by either the USAP or UPA at the time of the tournament.
Any paddle that has been delaminated or modified in a way that invalidates its approval status is strictly prohibited.
Payments & Refunds
All players must complete payment and ensure a partner is chosen to secure their spot. Both teammates must be registered and paid to compete. Payment is not accepted on the day of the event.
Withdrawals before registration closes will receive a full refund minus the $5 service fee from PickleballTournaments.com. Players on the waitlist won't be charged the event fee unless they move into the event.
If MPO cancels an event, full refunds will be issued including service fee.
No refunds or credits are issued after registration closes.
